Overview

Psychedelic Therapy for Post-Partum Issues: Accessibility and Treatment Insights

Join Fluence trainer and Plant Parenthood founder, Rebecca Kronman, for a webinar exploring post-partum issues and psychedelic therapy, featuring Melissa Whippo, LCSW. We will explore:

  • Specific needs of post-partum parents to make the therapy more accessible, such as home visits

  • How a post-partum body responds differently to substances, and in what  ways clinicians can mitigate this

  • How psychedelic substances are being used to treat those at risk of post partum depression prophylactically

  • Accommodating a breastfeeding/chestfeeding body by altering the route of administration

Melissa Whippo’s Biography:

Melissa Whippo, LCSW, is a psychedelic psychotherapist and the founder of Deva Collective, a non-profit with fiscal sponsorship from MAPS that focuses on the intersection between women’s health and psychedelics research, advocacy and education. In her clinical work, Melissa combines Western psychology with ancient eastern wisdom and plant medicine. In addition to completing a master’s degree in social work from the University of Southern California in 2003, she has been a Certified Yoga Instructor since 2004 and in 2022 completed a 4 year plant medicine apprenticeship with Francisca Santibanez. She has taught classes about perinatal mood and anxiety disorders at the UCSF School of Medicine, Journey Clinical, and Inbodied Life. Melissa is a lead trainer in psychedelic assisted psychotherapy as well as a published author in both academic and popular journals. She lives in Berkeley, CA, with her husband, 4 children and a labradoodle named Appa.

What students have to say about this program...

  • I really appreciate Fluence. The trainings and coursework, the literature shared, the community, self-development and insightful explorations have strengthened me as a professional and given such a sense of competence in this evolving space.

    Amy Johnson

    LCSW

  • I've been more than thrilled about my experience with Fluence thus far. I am a ketamine-assisted psychotherapist and

continue to learn more information and modalities to incorporate into my practice, from both the instructors and

    fellow students.

    LAURA HUTCHINS,

    LCMHC, LCAS, KAP Consulting

  • My entire experience with Fluence has been exceptional. The instructors are giants in the psychedelic field, many are active in clinical research and you will see their names in scientific publications.

    Stephanie Barss,

    FNP, PMHNP, Psilocybin-Assisted Therapy

    Certificate Program Advisor

  • The trainers at Fluence are what continually confirm that I am in the right place. The reverence and honor with which they approach their work is so evident. I have felt a sense of safety

at Fluence that is not present in other organizations I have

trained with or researched, and it is the trainers who create that safety.

    Andrea Bigenho,

    LPC specialist in Psychedelic Integration
