Rob Harris, a documentary filmmaker by training, is responsible for all video production at Fluence. After interning with Academy Award winning filmmaker Barbara Kopple, Rob went to documentary film school at UC Berkeley, where he received a masters degree in journalism. After graduation, Rob associate produced a PBS Frontline, then landed a job as staff video journalist for The New York Times. There he covered the 2010 Earthquake in Haiti, the Deepwater Horizon disaster in the Gulf of Mexico, and the Arab Spring in Cairo. Rob was part of teams that won two Pulitzers, one Emmy and a Dupont award.
Rob left his hometown of Brooklyn to move up to the Hudson Valley in 2012, where he first managed the video unit for the online news agency Global Post, then went on to manage a team producing educational and marketing videos for Omega Institute. He also launched their first podcast. In 2019, Rob teamed up with Gabe Johnson to found Depth of Field Films. Rob and Gabe produced documentary style marketing video projects for clients ranging from The United Nations to Swarthmore College to Abandoned Hard Cider.
Rob has a passion for supporting the next generation of filmmakers. He taught video production at SUNY New Paltz for four years and now serves as the apprenticeship coordinator for HUDSY film collective.
